HUMAN POWERED VEHICLE CHALLENGE (HPVC)
Human-powered transport is often the only type available in underdeveloped or inaccessible parts of the world, and if well designed, can be an increasingly viable form of sustainable transportation.
ASME's Human Powered Vehicle Challenge provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate the application of sound engineering design principles in the development of sustainable and practical transportation alternatives. In the HPVC, students work in teams to design and build efficient, highly engineered vehicles for everyday use—from commuting to work, to carrying goods to market.

STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION
The ASME Student Design Competition provides a platform for ASME Student Members to present their solutions to a range of design problems - from everyday household tasks to groundbreaking space exploration. Each team is required to design, construct and operate a prototype meeting the requirements of an annually determined problem statement.
The 2020 Student Design Competition, Building to the Sky, requires teams to build a compact engineering system capable of manufacturing a tower made exclusively from standard-sized sheets of paper. The validation of your design will include testing for manufacturing speed, height of tower, and ability to support a load.

ASME INNOVATIVE ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING 3D CHALLENGE (IAM3D™)
The 2020 ASME IAM3D Unmanned Aerial Racing Cargo Vehicle (U.A.R.C.V.) competition tasks university students to design and manufacture a U.A.R.C.V. using additive manufacturing and an iterative design process that will race in five team flights for five laps through an obstacle course picking up and delivering one payload per lap.

ORAL COMPETITION Sponsored by the ASME Old Guard Committee
Like all professionals, engineers must possess a well-developed ability to synthesize issues and communicate effectively to diverse audiences. This competition is designed to emphasize the value of delivering clear, concise and effective oral presentations, particularly pertaining to some sphere in which an engineer is involved.

*NEW* ELEVATOR PITCH COMPETITION Sponsored by the ASME Old Guard Committee
An elevator pitch is a brief, persuasive speech that is used to spark interest in what you and/or your organization does and is an essential tool you can utilize during interviews and as you start your professional career. This year we’re challenging you to pitch a project, idea, product or yourself!

ASME Engineering Festivals® (or E-Fests) are regional events for engineering students that include design competitions, career development workshops, access to thought leaders and innovators in various engineering fields, and networking opportunities. E-Fests also extend beyond the in-person events and provide online content, resources and a community that enables students to foster innovation, network with key players in the industry, connect with peers and celebrate engineering!
